Training instead of farewell
The first deportations have taken place – directly from the apprenticeship place. This is causing massive uncertainty among the apprentices concerned and in the companies. Therefore, we demand the suspension of deportations of people in apprenticeship and training! We appeal to the federal government in Austria to implement the “3plus2” model for asylum seekers in apprenticeships, which has been tried and tested in Germany. “3plus2” provides that apprentices are not deported during their 3-year apprenticeship period and the first two full years of work.
The deportation of asylum seekers in apprenticeship not only harms entrepreneurs, it also prevents one of the most successful integration opportunities. One of the greatest opportunities for integration is the integration of refugees into the labour market. An opportunity for the people concerned themselves, but also for the companies and our society. After all, an apprenticeship brings specialised training, language skills, friendships and integration into Austrian society.
Apprenticeships in shortage occupations are one of the few employment opportunities for asylum seekers. It is precisely in the area of shortage occupations that companies are desperately looking for workers – the shortage of skilled workers is progressing at an enormous pace. The apprenticeship for asylum seekers is an opportunity to counteract the shortage of skilled workers.
Together with Intergretion Regional Councillor Rudi Anschober, the Dachsteinkönig and his employees support this initiative before the Austrian federal government.
We also train asylum seekers and hope not to lose two hard-working members of our team.
